A lifelong maker, I remain drawn to hand crafts and in particular, their intersection with fine arts. I’m somewhat hesitant to draw that distinction between arts and crafts, but it ultimately sits comfortably with the work I’m currently doing — elevated, present-day, but always maintaining the qualities of being created by hand, never manufactured.
My pottery takes inspiration from traditional New England forms and functional pieces, with a focus on sturdy vases, thickset bowls and utilitarian crocks. My glazing, however, draws from modern color studies which allow me to play with proportion, texture, and bold geometric shapes. I find that this combination of influences leads me down many paths of inspiration and boundless experimentation.
Whether used functionally or as objects to behold and admire, my pieces are created to bring a brightness to any room. The pieces stand alone, but are also designed to interact, to mix & match, and be seen as a cohesive body of work. En masse, they appear to energize each other — which is why I recommend indulging in multiple pieces and have kept the price points affordable, in an effort to ensure the work is accessible and can be enjoyed by one and all!
